The Coast-to-Coast Challenge: The challenge is you have to win the very first pot you play and never dip below your starting stack for the entire session. You can never be stuck.

There’s been some debate on how many hours you have to play to qualify for The Challenge, with me insisting on 8+ hours and my friends with jobs saying that 6+ hours should suffice.

I’ve come up with a compromise: tiers of completion (see below).

Six hours and never having less chips than you started with will qualify as a completion.

It’s worth noting that if you go 6+ hours without dipping below starting stack, but keep playing and fall below in hour #9, you have not completed The Challenge; no bronze medal for you.

If you post and fold, you’re out.

If the first hand you get dealt is your big blind and you fold, you’re out.

If you sit in a Stud game and ante, but don’t win that hand, you’re out.

If you win your first hand and spend 10 hours in the green and for one hand you’re stuck $1, but you rally back in the next pot and post a big one, you’re out.

Also, this is for limit games only. I’ve done it in big bet games since we came up with The Challenge and was told it didn’t count. That makes sense to me, as winning your first hand and maintaining a big stack is much easier in a big bet format. At least, I imagine it is.

I will note any time I’m aware of someone completing The Challenge here and their accomplishment will be forever enshrined on this page.
